Welcome!
Hello and welcome!
I’m so thrilled to be sharing my stories of the sea with you. Whatever the day - gloriously sunny, brooding and grey, or blustery and wind-whipped, the beach and its surrounds have always captivated me. Salt-laden air, damp spray on skin, the sound of waves rushing up the sand and of sun-bathers chatting, the delicious, expectation we feel just before that first dive under - the beach is at once enticing, invigorating, and calming. It is impossible not to be touched and moved by the sea.
Danish author Isak Dinesen once wrote “The cure for anything is salt water: sweat, tears, or the sea.” I couldn’t agree more. The sea assuages and soothes our senses in an inexplicable way.
Over the coming months I’l be exploring this concept through a series of interviews and portraits. I'll be talking to locals who swim daily whatever the weather, to professionals who study and protect our oceans, to authors who write about it, and to board-riders and bodysurfers for whom the beach is a necessary ritual. I look forward to sharing these with you.
Enjoy,
